Homps is a short 40 minute drive along the Canal du Midi. On arrival, head for the port where you can watch the world of the canal drift by while enjoying a drink on the banks. Have an early lunch at one of the many restaurants (We especially recommend En Bonne Compagnie on the North bank of the canal just by the road bridge). Afterwards you can take a boat trip for a couple of hours up the canal. Book at La Capitainerie and while there make sure you visit the wine store in the back - probably the best collection of Minervois wines under one roof and all at cellar door prices.

Enjoy lovely walks around the lake at Jouarres and on the way back stop at one of the spots where you can rent a little electric or outboard boat to play yourself on the canal (Trebes and the pretty village of La Redorte). Also do not forget to stop at the lock L’aiguille to see the great sculptures (an example of which adorns the entrance to Au Berg)
