La Cite.

La Cite de Carcassonne is an UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the largest medieval fortified towns still complete. Although a massive tourist trap, a trip around the narrow lanes with endless shopping opportunities and a meal or two within the walls is a must for every visitor

The Canal du Midi connects the Atlantic to the Mediterranean and was completed in 1687. Its staircases of round edged locks and beautiful plane trees make it a truly wonderful place to visit and spend some quiet time

Carcassonne and the department of The Aude have so much to offer from great historic monuments to sandy beaches and adventure parks. We cannot hope to cover everything here but recommend things that we enjoy. See the Links page for more information.
