An hour’s drive from Carcassonne is the African park at Sigean, a fabulous day out for all the family - there is a good area for a picnic so take your own food.

Also try Homps for lunch and a boat trip or an out of this world experience at Cite de l’espace in Toulouse.

Some of our favourite places to go are within five minutes drive of Au Berg.

The first is Lac de la Cavayere, a public park with a large lake, beaches, boats for hire and loads of room for picnics and walks. A fun tree-bound adventure area called O2Aventure is in the park.

The Parc Australien has animals, activities and lots of learning opportunities for kids as well as basic food and occasional evening events
